Notavello Export ChatGPT to PDF · Last updated July 2, 2026
This page describes what the Notavello Export ChatGPT to PDF Chrome extension does and does not do with your data. It applies only to this extension, not to other Notavello tools or to notavello.com generally.
Short version
Notavello Export ChatGPT to PDF runs locally in your browser. It reads the ChatGPT conversation you are viewing only when you choose to export it, creates the PDF on your device, and does not upload, sell, share, or collect conversation content or personal data. There is no account required and no analytics tracking built into the extension itself.
What the extension does
When you use the extension on a supported ChatGPT page, it helps turn the conversation currently visible in your browser into a clean, searchable PDF. The export process happens locally in Chrome using code packaged with the extension. The generated PDF is created on your device.
What data the extension accesses
- The ChatGPT conversation content visible on the current ChatGPT page, accessed only so the extension can format that conversation into a PDF after you choose to export it.
- The current active tab, used only to confirm that you are on a supported ChatGPT page and to send the export command to that page when you click the extension button.
- A small local storage setting that remembers whether Auto-redact is enabled or disabled between sessions.
Auto-redact
The extension includes an optional Auto-redact setting designed to help hide common sensitive patterns, such as email addresses or API-key-like strings, before export. This feature runs locally in your browser. It is a convenience feature and should not be treated as a guarantee that every sensitive detail will be removed from every conversation.
What the extension does not do
- It does not upload ChatGPT conversation content to Notavello, Google, OpenAI, or any third party.
- It does not sell, share, or collect personal information.
- It does not include analytics, trackers, advertising, or tracking pixels inside the extension itself.
- It does not require you to create an account or sign in with Notavello.
- It does not run on unrelated websites.
- It does not access your browsing history, passwords, payment information, contacts, or files outside the PDF you choose to create.
- It does not execute remote code. The JavaScript used by the extension, including the bundled PDF library, is packaged inside the extension files.
Permissions explained
The extension requests these Chrome permissions:
- storage — used only to remember the Auto-redact preference so the setting stays the way you left it between browser sessions.
- activeTab — used when you click the extension popup so the extension can interact with the current ChatGPT tab and start the export.
- Access to chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com — used so the extension can add the export button on supported ChatGPT pages and turn the conversation you are viewing into a PDF when you choose to export it.
These permissions are used only for the extension's single purpose: exporting a ChatGPT conversation to a PDF in your browser.
Where data is stored
The extension does not store conversation content. The only extension setting stored is the local Auto-redact preference. PDFs you create are saved by your browser or operating system wherever you choose to save downloaded files.
Data sharing
Notavello Export ChatGPT to PDF does not transmit extension data to Notavello servers. Because the extension does not collect conversation content or personal data, there is no extension data for Notavello to sell, rent, or share.
