Hide My Bookmarks · Last updated June 30, 2026
This page describes what the Hide My Bookmarks Chrome extension does and does not do with your data. It applies only to this extension, not to other Notavello tools or to notavello.com generally.
Short version
Hide My Bookmarks does not collect, transmit, sell, or store any of your data anywhere outside your own browser. There are no servers involved. There is no account. There is no analytics tracking built into the extension itself.
What the extension does
When you click the extension icon, Hide My Bookmarks uses Chrome's built-in Bookmarks API to move the items currently on your bookmarks bar into a folder named "Hide My Bookmarks — Stored" inside your Other Bookmarks. Clicking the icon again moves them back to the bar in their original order. This all happens locally, inside your own browser.
What data the extension accesses
- Your existing browser bookmarks — read and reorganized only when you click the extension icon, never automatically or in the background.
- A small local storage flag that remembers whether your bookmarks are currently hidden or shown, so the icon displays the correct state.
What the extension does not do
- It does not read the content of the web pages you visit.
- It does not transmit any data to Notavello, Google, or any third party.
- It does not include analytics, trackers, or advertising of any kind.
- It does not require you to create an account or sign in.
- It does not delete any bookmarks. Items are only ever relocated within your own browser, never removed.
Permissions explained
The extension requests two Chrome permissions:
- bookmarks — required to move bookmarks into and out of the storage folder when you click the icon.
- storage — required to remember whether the bar is currently hidden, so the toolbar icon and behavior stay correct across browser restarts.
No other permissions are requested, and the extension cannot access your browsing history, open tabs, passwords, or any website content.
